Ironline Calgary Block Removal

ROIL Projects Inc were referred to Ironline Compression in Calgary by the Grande Prairie Ironline branch as the people that have the solution for their problem. We received a call from the branch manager at Ironline Compression asking us if we could remove a 10,000lb engine block from inside of a compressor building on one of the sites they were working on. The branch had heard that we had speciality equipment that would allow them to keep the roof on the building and use a large crane to pull the engine for servicing. He had gotten a quote to pull the roof and use a crane to remove the engine and it had come in at $30,000.00 to do it!

When we arrived on site we were met with several sceptics – both operations on location and several of the mechanics had never seen anyone attempt to do what we were about to do. Our operator wrote a lift plan, permit and spotted the truck into a location that would allow for them to reach through the roll-up doorway. Our reverse jib was attached to our 30-ton Palfinger crane and lifted the 12’ long 10,000lbs engine block through the doorway. Our truck was on-site for less than 3 hours and had the job completed safely and cost-effectively. We were able to save them several days consuming labour to remove the roof and over $20,000.00 on the final bill!
