The Most Important Qualities To Look For In A Modular Building Service Provider
April 29, 2020
  1. When selecting a modular building and construction service provider, it is important to consider a list of measurable to ensure you are receiving the best assistance for your project. Our team at ROIL Projects Inc explains the standout qualities a great service provider should have in Alberta.
  2. Trade work force – Does the potential provider have the skilled labour required to perform the scope of work? Modular construction requires multiple trades to complete a project correctly. It’s easy to hire labour to complete a job, it’s far more difficult to provide the skilled trades such as carpenters, plumbers, and electricians with the experience and skills required to perform modular installs quickly, safely and correctly the first time.
  3. Equipment – Installing relocatable structures and modular buildings require specialized equipment and tooling to deliver the finished product. Cranes, loaders, zoom booms, bed trucks and many other pieces of equipment are required. Does the provider have the necessary equipment or the ability to provide it?
  4. Administration – Is the potential provider able to deliver a detailed scope of work and expectations to the potential client? Can they deliver an accurate quote or estimate? Are they able to break out certain items that may be options or extras? Do they include materials in their scope? What is the client expected to provide for the job? It’s very easy to just throw out a price, however, it takes a lot of time and skill to provide a detailed and accurate scope of work so both the client and service provider know exactly what the expectations are.
  5. Safety – This can mean a lot of different things, primarily does the provider have a safety program? Does it include field-level safety measures? Does the company have a safety person or representative? Is the company CoR certified? Do they provide their workforce with the proper personal protective equipment? Is the company experienced in not only construction safety but also how do they incorporate other industries specific safety rules and regulations? Do they have oil & gas safety training? Do all employees have the specific safety courses required to work on-site? Finally, what does the workforce safety culture look like and do all employees get involved in the team’s safety at the field level during tailgate meetings and in the office at monthly safety meetings?
  6. Execution – This is a big one! Can the service provider execute? Is the company able to deliver the finished product safely, on time, on budget and to the customer’s satisfaction?
